We have new music Friday, on a constant sync and repeat. Here are some tunes that have cut through the sound waves in Asia in 2023, as we take a mid-year stock take of some of the more anticipated releases.

Vibes by Zayn

Zayn Malik, known mononymously as Zayn, gained worldwide fame as a member of the British-Irish boy band One Direction. Zayn’s departure from the group in 2015 marked the beginning of his solo career, which has been supported by Tyler Arnold of Mercury Records. He has since notably scrubbed his public Instagram profile clean of his previous projects. A signal of great things to come.

Nanana by Peggy Gou

Peggy Gou, just turned 30 and is known for blending various genres such as house, techno, and disco, in creating unique and energetic sound that resonates with audiences worldwide. Her DJ sets are known for their infectious beats, seamless transitions, and vibrant energy, which have earned her a devoted fan base.

Her fashion sense and style have contributed to her fame and recognition beyond the music scene. She has been featured in numerous fashion publications and has collaborated with notable brands. Peggy’s vibrant and eclectic fashion choices, coupled with her unique personal style, have made her a fashion icon and a source of inspiration for many.

Future Somebody by Haven

Born and raised in Singapore, 19 year old youth prodigy, Haven, has since performed at one of the most iconic nightlife venues in Asia, Marquee, alongside the rest of WILD group’s artists, such as SORN, formerly from CLC and Dharni. Stunning the crowd with the performance, she is no one hit wonder having collaborated alongside Kyle Echarri, and was part of the Southeast Asian collaboration “HEAL” to raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts in the Philippines.

With a following of over 600,000 followers, Haven is known for viral content and has cultivated a strong fan-base across Southeast Asia with her bubbly and relatable personality.

House on the Hill by Eric Nam

Eric Nam gained popularity through his participation in the South Korean reality TV show “Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2” in 2012, where he finished in fifth place. After the show, he signed with B2M Entertainment and moved to South Korea to pursue a career in the Korean music industry.

In addition to his music and television career, Eric Nam is an advocate for various social and environmental causes. He has used his platform to raise awareness about important issues, such as mental health with Mindset and climate change.
