MU:IN Club turned into a beating heart of Thai music last night, as the industry’s brightest names gathered for the launch of the newly revamped Official Thailand Chart. Powered by IFPI and integrated into the regional Official Southeast Asia Charts, this isn’t just another plaque party. It’s a strategic reboot of how Thailand presents its sound to the region and beyond.
The big winner? Jeff Satur, currently touring, whose sweeping 2024 success was immortalised with two top honours: Top Local Artist and Top Local Song for the aching synth-pop single Ghost. Meanwhile, a Special Achievement Award went to F.HERO, Kantong, and Saran, whose genre-blending hit Kularb has dominated the chart for 16 straight weeks in 2025 — an anomaly in a fragmented, stream-first landscape. They closed the night with a powerful live performance, equal parts flex and celebration.
The relaunch of the chart isn’t just about handing out trophies. IFPI’s move to bring Thailand into its Southeast Asian chart ecosystem reflects a regional music scene that’s becoming increasingly borderless — and competitive. With real-time tracking of streaming data across all major platforms, the Official Thailand Chart positions itself as both a reliable industry tool and a cultural snapshot.
Among other top-ranking local hits: D Gerrard’s Galaxy Express, NONT TANONT’s emotional slow-burn White Flag, and fellow fellow’s Halley’s Comet, all of which placed prominently in 2024’s rundown. There’s no mistaking the mood: Thai artists are exploring new textures, deeper emotions, and international soundscapes — and audiences are here for it.
Live sets from PUN, Musketeers, Hunsick, 2Ectasy, Ben Bizzy, and JayQ ensured the room felt more like a tightly programmed showcase than a ceremony — less polite clapping, more camera flashes and shouted lyrics.
As Kanate Permsub, Chairman of IFPI Thailand, put it: “This event marks a pivotal juncture for the Thai music industry, signalling its evolution. This isn’t just a celebration of Thailand’s unique sonic identity and exceptional talent; it’s a strategic move to amplify our cultural resonance globally.” His counterpart, IFPI CFO John Nolan, echoed the sentiment: “Thailand is a fast-growing market with huge potential, and we are delighted to launch the Official Thailand Chart as part of our ongoing investment in the region. Tonight was a fantastic showcase of the rich talent and incredible artistry in Thailand.”
If the night’s turnout is any indicator, the rest of Southeast Asia should be paying close attention. Thai music isn’t rising, it’s already arrived.
