Stormzy Stars in Big Man, a 20-Minute iPhone Masterclass in Ego and Redemption

Fresh off a historic Glastonbury headline and a sold-out 2020 world tour stop in Singapore, although it was woefully cancelled due to the pandemic; Stormzy continues to expand his creative horizons, this time, on screen.

The grime heavyweight stars in Big Man, a short film shot entirely on an iPhone 16 Pro by BAFTA-winning Surgedirector Aneil Karia, that you can stream below, with no strings attached. Best known for acting credits in Noel Clarke’s Brotherhood and Michaela Coel’s Chewing GumBig Man marks Stormzy’s first leading role on screen, and it hits different.

Laced with sharp, pisstakey humour aimed squarely at superstar ego culture, Big Man follows Tenzman, a washed-up musician trudging through life’s everyday frustrations. That is, until a chance encounter with two kids sparks an unexpected and heartwarming road trip to Brighton.

The 20-minute film captures both grit and tenderness, showing Stormzy in a whole new light, not just as a performer, but as a storyteller unafraid to explore vulnerability, legacy and reinvention.

As Heavy Is The Head continues to resonate and @MerkyBooks reshapes the publishing world, Big Man is yet another chapter in a career built on owning — and shifting — the narrative.

New riddim’s out with J Balvin. Tour’s sold out. Film’s in your pocket. Go ahead. Take 20 minutes and soak up the talent.
