Reflective bronze baubles are the last thing you’d expect to see in a traditional Chinese restaurant. But Mitzo does it tastefully, providing the new millennials a hip spot to savour good old Chinese food, with a twist. Leave your expectations behind, for Mitzo’s dynamic bar ain’t a stickler for traditional cocktails. They have infused Asian herbs and spices into their concoctions, for example, Smokey Elixir ($22) that has infused goji berry with orange and chocolate liquer.
Our favourite on the Signatures Set Menu ($108++) has to be the oven baked Chilean seabass with lemongrass, chilli and spices – succulent – plus the spices were invigorating, but at the same time did not overpower the freshness of the fish. Touches of  savoury enoki mushroom and onion were panfried with lamb chop, that gave a typically Western dish a unique Asian twist.
Don’t leave Mitzo without trying their special barbecued pork. It is in a world of its own – with sweet, slightly charred skin that melts into one’s mouths.
If your purse strings are slightly tighter, they offer a four-course Set Lunch ($28++), that includes an appetiser/soup, main course, side dish and a dessert to top off the experience.
Of course, what is a new-age without soulful background music. Nu Disco and Neo Soul beats are being introduced to put one in the best of vibes to savour the cuisine.
