The first in Asia to feature art specifically from the ME.NA.SA regions, the Singapore Art Fair will hold its first event from 27 to 30 November this year. And in case you don’t know what ME.NA.SA means, it’s the Middle East, North Africa, and South/South East Asia regions. Here’s what you can expect from the fair that “is expected to become one of the iconic artistic events held in Asia”:

38 Countries

If my arithmetic skills haven’t failed me yet, there’ll be close to 40 different countries featured in the Singapore Art Fair, some of which include Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Libya, Nepal, Lebanon, as well as Singapore and her neighbouring countries. Sounds exotic, doesn’t it?

80 Galleries

Classified and organised by thematic platforms, look forward to 60 exhibitions worldwide and 20 solo showcases. If you intend to tour the art fair in its totality, prepare to block out all four days of the event from your calendar. Oh, and you’ll be needing comfortable footwear, for that matter.

Dialogues & Talks

As with almost every major art fair, there has to be panel discussions between artist, curator and viewer during the event. For the Singapore Art Fair, it’s no exception. The issue of contemporary art in the ME.NA.SA regions is one of many topics to be discussed. And a street art fringe event will host a dialogue between ME.NA.SA artists. These things are great for enlightenment and intellectually deep thinking.

Special Features

Last but most likely not the least, a portion of the Singapore Art Fair will be dedicated to the art of sculptures and videos, individually. These programmes have been titled respectively, “Sculpture Corner” and “Journey into Video Art”. While more details are yet to be released, I couldn’t be more curious about what the video art segment has to offer. I hope the organisers will astound us.
