F1 Frenzy: Singapore Heats Up, Bangkok Joins the Race Bid

F1 fever is surging as Singapore gears up for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025 — the crown jewel of Southeast Asia’s motorsport calendar. With over three months to lights out, fans are already on the edge of their seats, thanks to the F1® The Movie sneak preview on 25 June 2025 at GV Bugis+. Produced by the team behind Top Gun: Maverick, this Brad Pitt-led adrenaline rush promises to bring the roar of the track to the silver screen like never before.

Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” the film follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a 1990s F1 phenom whose career was derailed by a devastating crash. Three decades later, Hayes lives as a nomadic racer-for-hire until former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem) offers him a shot at redemption—help save a failing F1 team and chase glory once more. But with a fiery rookie teammate (Damson Idris) and old rivalries resurfacing, Hayes learns that in F1, your biggest competition can be the one in your own garage. Singapore residents can ballot for a pair of free tickets at www.singaporegp.sg from 17 to 19 June, with lucky attendees standing a chance to win coveted prizes, including the Thursday Pit Lane Experience passes.

Meanwhile, Thailand is firing up its engines, making a US$1.2 billion bid to join the F1 calendar with a Bangkok street race in 2028. With ambitions to transform its capital into a global motorsport hub, all eyes are on how this bold play will shake up the regional scene. Could Singapore soon have a new neighbour on the grid?

As anticipation builds, one thing is certain — the next era of F1 in Asia is set to be bigger, faster, and louder than ever.
