Pursuing Passion and Purpose
39-year-old Evangeline Wong is a stellar example of a true go-getter, of a banker turned entrepreneur. In 2015, the dynamic Singaporean left the comfort and security of a successful banking career, that she had thrived for almost a decade, to pursue her passion in the yachting world.
Fresh out from banking then, Evangeline had always been determined to make a success of herself in the yachting industry. Her love for yachts started when she first laid eyes on a Leopard catamaran at one of the Singapore Yacht Shows. The yacht was initially used for personal trips for her and her family, but seeing how much friends and family enjoy the yachting experience, she decided to establish Valencia Yachts, that has since grown to become one of the many yacht chartering operators in Singapore.
Her crowning achievement is the ‘Star of the Sea’. Constructed in sunny Singapore, this 39 metres long superyacht took more than 6 years to build and is one the largest vessels to be offered for charter in Singapore. As a member of The SeaKeepers, she remains a strong advocate for the conservation of the oceans, and in building ‘Star of the Sea’ has partnered also with yacht builder veteran, Julian Chang of Raffles Yacht, who is also the President of the International SeaKeepers Society, Asia.
Yachting Ambitions
Evangeline had a goal of adding a yacht to her fleet every 2 years, with the ‘Victoria’ yacht added in 2017. However, Covid put a slight dampener on her plans. In 2022, she had the opportunity to purchase 3 more yachts, seemingly to make up for lost time, and her dream of becoming the owner of multiple yachts eventually came true.
As the owner of Valencia Yachts, that has acquired two Leopard Catamarans, she has branched out another brand called Maximum Yachts with, namely, Maximum 1 and Maximum 2, in addition to ‘Star of the Sea’.
Evangeline has earned herself the reputation of being one of the more reliable yacht charter owners in the market. Her exceptional customer service and management skills, have allowed her to create unforgettable experiences, for both corporate and private clients.
