Samsung Wants Your Wildest and Smartest Ideas to Shape SG60

AUTHOR

What do you get when you mix wild ideas, real-world problems, and a whole lot of Gen Z energy? The return of Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow 2025, and this year, it’s hitting different.

Back for its ninth edition and landing right in time for Singapore’s SG60 milestone, Solve for Tomorrow isn’t just a school competition — it’s your chance to actually shape the future. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, hyped about digital innovation, or just constantly asking “why isn’t there an app for this?” — this is your moment.

The competition calls on youths aged 12 to 18 across Singapore to team up and pitch their best ideas for how tech can tackle today’s biggest challenges. We are not talking hypotheticals here, we mean real solutions, with real impact, backed by Samsung’s resources, mentorship, and a platform that’s actually listening.

“Youths today are growing up in a world that’s evolving faster than ever. At Samsung Singapore, we believe in harnessing technology with purpose and that starts by empowering the next generation to think boldly and act meaningfully,” says Jeffrey Hahn, President of Samsung Electronics Singapore. “It’s not just about Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) knowledge, but about using creativity, critical thinking, and compassion to solve real-world challenges. Solve for Tomorrow reflects this belief; it’s a platform for young minds to explore, experiment, and ultimately become the changemakers of tomorrow.”

Ask last year’s winners, Team redbluegold, and they will tell you: this competition is not just fun, it is formative, affirms Karan Gopu Pillai, and it helps youth embrace technology in ways that uplift lives and connect communities. This year’s competition themes hit right at the heart of what matters: environmental sustainability, health and tech, inclusivity and social harmony, and digital readiness.

Whether you’re dreaming up a smart recycling tool or an app to help bridge digital divides, it’s all fair game. Entries are open from now until 31 August 2025, and all you need is a team of two to four full-time secondary school students, from mainstream, IP, SPED or specialised schools. Find a teacher-mentor, then bring your most creative, useful, or downright genius idea to the table.

Yes, there are prizes. Big ones. We’re talking S$10,000 worth of Samsung products, S$7,000 cash, plus a trip to Samsung’s innovation headquarters in South Korea for the top team. Second and third prize winners won’t walk away empty-handed either, this is Samsung, after all.

So if you’ve ever stared at a problem and thought, “I could fix that,” this is your shot. Solve for Tomorrow 2025 isn’t just a contest, it’s a launchpad for the kind of ideas that Singapore needs right now.

Head over to the Solve for Tomorrow 2025 website, grab your crew, and get building. Winners will be announced in November 2025, Samsung’s decision is final.
