The Cannes Lions International Festival for Creativity’s competitions are pivotal for identifying and nurturing the next generation of creative talent, as well as honour some of the world’s best creative minds. It is not just all fun and games, along the bountiful beaches of the French Riveria.
For this year’s Young Lions’, sponsored by Adobe, the competitions span various categories, each designed to challenge and inspire young professionals from around the world.
Grand Prix Category
Innocean, led by Global CEO Lee Yong-woo, achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the ‘Grand Prix for Good’ at the 2024 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
This marks the first Grand Prix win since the company’s establishment in 2005, solidifying its position as a top-tier global marketing solutions company. Innocean Berlin’s campaign, “The First Speech,” created for Reporters Without Borders, was praised for its creativity and impact. In addition to the Grand Prix, Innocean secured one Gold in the ‘Film’ category and three Bronze awards, achieving its best performance ever.
Its global network expansion includes acquiring American creative subsidiary ‘David & Goliath,’ partnering with Singapore’s leading independent agency ‘TSLA,’ and signing an MOU with Thailand’s largest retail group, ‘Siam Piwat,’ to strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian market.

Young Lions’ Design Category
Aside from established agencies, this year’s’ additions and breakthrough winners in the Young Lions’ category were judged live in Cannes by esteemed members of the Cannes Lions Juries. The 2024 competition was particularly notable for awarding Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for the first time, marking a significant milestone for these countries.
The Design category challenged participants to create an effective, refined, and attractive brand identity to raise awareness for the lesser-known filmmaker Billy Wilder, as briefed by Museu da Imagem e do Som.
