In a world of digital perfection and trending tweaks, Dr. Siew Tuck Wah, Medical Director of Radium Medical Aesthetics, stands firm in his philosophy of enhancing natural beauty. In this exclusive with Popspoken, as a follow-up from beauty trends, he shares how his approach blends science with artistry, why patient education is critical, and how he keeps aesthetics grounded in empathy, ethics and timeless elegance.
At Radium Wellness Centre, an extension of Radium Medical Aesthetics, it is dedicated to helping men and women rediscover their confidence, and vitality through holistic, medical-grade treatments. Founded in 2022, the centre was born from the belief that aesthetic care extends far beyond dermal fillers or lasers. It offers a curated range of non-invasive body contouring solutions and medical-grade facials, all designed to rejuvenate not just the skin, but the self. At its core, Radium believes in whole-person wellness that promotes long-term transformation in both health and well-being.
Popspoken: How has your philosophy on beauty evolved over the years, especially with the rise of social media and digital filters?
Dr. Siew: My philosophy on beauty has definitely evolved over the years, especially with the growing influence of social media and digital filters. While these platforms have created more awareness and openness around aesthetic treatments, they’ve also set increasingly unrealistic beauty standards — often airbrushed, exaggerated, and unattainable.
As an aesthetic doctor, I’ve become even more committed to grounding my work in authenticity, safety, and subtlety. I believe in enhancing what’s naturally beautiful about a person, not changing them into a version shaped by trends or algorithms. Patients sometimes wish to achieve unrealistic outcomes and it is the doctor’s responsibility to counsel the patient to moderate his/her expectations.
Ultimately, my goal is to help patients feel confident in their own skin — not chase a filtered ideal, but to become the best version of themselves in a safe, medically sound, and sustainable way
Popspoken: How do you balance science and artistry in your treatments?
Dr. Siew: Balancing science and artistry is at the heart of aesthetic medicine. The science gives us the tools – understanding anatomy, skin physiology, and how different technologies or injectables interact with the body. But it’s the artistry that shapes how we use those tools to create results that are natural, harmonious, and tailored to each individual.
At Radium, no two faces are treated the same. I study each patient’s facial proportions, expressions, and even their personality before deciding on a treatment plan. It’s like sculpting – you need a keen eye for detail, restraint, and a deep respect for what makes each face unique.
The best outcomes are never just about technique—they come from intuition, empathy, and an artistic sense of balance. That’s how we ensure our patients don’t just look better – they still look like themselves, only refreshed and confident.
Popspoken: With so many new technologies emerging, how do you decide which ones are worth integrating into your practice?
Dr. Siew: With the constant wave of new aesthetic technologies, it’s easy to be swept up by marketing hype. But at Radium, we approach every new device or treatment with a healthy dose of scepticism and a strong commitment to patient safety and results.
First and foremost, we look at the clinical data to determine the safety and efficacy of the treatment. Are the results reproducible and long-lasting? We also need to understand the possible side effects, and if is it suitable for Asian skin types, which can be more prone to pigmentation?
Finally, we look at whether it adds genuine value to our patients. Does it treat a gap we haven’t addressed well before? Can it integrate seamlessly into our existing treatment protocols to enhance outcomes?
We never adopt something just because it’s trending. Everything we bring into our clinic must align with our philosophy: safe, evidence-based, and ultimately, able to deliver natural-looking, meaningful improvements.

Popspoken: You’re known for achieving natural, refreshed results. How do you manage patients who come in with unrealistic expectations influenced by social media or celebrity culture?
Dr. Siew: Managing unrealistic expectations is one of the most important – and delicate – parts of my job. Social media and celebrity culture have created a distorted view of beauty, where heavily filtered, edited, or surgically enhanced faces are mistaken for natural. Many patients come in wanting to look like someone else, rather than the best version of themselves.
The first thing I do is have an honest, empathetic conversation. I listen to what they’re hoping to achieve, then gently guide them to understand what is medically safe, aesthetically appropriate, and realistically achievable. Education is key – explaining how treatments work, what they can and cannot do, and why “less is more” often leads to better, more lasting results.
Sometimes, it’s also about setting boundaries and saying no when a request doesn’t align with our philosophy. At Radium, we never chase trends – we focus on timeless beauty and preserving individuality. Patients trust us because we’re not afraid to prioritise their long-term well-being over short-term gratification. That’s how we build lasting relationships, and beautiful, natural results.
