STYLE: Magazine Celebrates a New Fashion Order with 10 Years of Style

STYLE: Singapore has been around for a ten years and what a lovely ride it has been! Through the years, its subsidiary magazines have taken off in the form of STYLE: Weddings, STYLE: Men and STYLE: Living – for the stylish woman/man wanting their quick fix of what’s new and what’s trending. To celebrate their decade long affair with fashion, STYLE: presented its anniversary party at the elusive ReDot Fine Art Gallery, 39 Keppel Road. Invited guests turned up in droves at the warehouse right next to the sleepy bustle of PSA.

In a further salute to everything homegrown, Alicia Pan as well as Jonathan Leong of Singapore Idol fame were present to perform for the enthusiastic crowd. At one point, Jon spontaneously swooped to give a fan a peck on her cheek while performing.

To keep the crowd cooled down from the puzzling lack of air condition, Perrier, Stella Artois and various wines and vodkas were served to thirsty guests. Perrier in particular tantalised taste buds with its flavours offered such as watermelon and cucumber.

STYLE: Men was not to be outdone and provided showcases of SK-II facial products, and Calvin Klein’s fragrance Encounter that were for the men.

Of course, what’s a party without some styleWe see some guests decked out in their finest and quirkiest.

Accessories maketh the man – even if its your smartphone’s accessory. Not forgetting this, STYLE: set up a mini booth for guests to drop their existing smartphone covers in exchange for new ones. Needless to say, the IPhone ones were gone in a flash. (what S3?!)

On a whole, it was a lovely event with the mingling of like-minded fashionistas with interactive activities for the guests to participate in. The writer’s only gripe is that for such a hugely anticipated event on such a warm night, would it be too hard to provide some air conditioning to prevent performing artists or even the guests from a (gasp) makeup meltdown?

Happy Birthday STYLE:! Here’s to a decade more of fun and fashion as we enter the New Fashion Order.
