Valentino is reimagining its Madison Avenue boutique as a sanctuary for sound with the launch of L’Atelier Sonore, a listening space conceived in collaboration with Terraforma, an Italian collective known for its dedication to sound and ecological experimentation. Opening on May 15, the space is an intimate homage to the art of listening. It is an invitation to slow down, sink into velvet-cushioned seats, and let the music envelop you.
Crafted by sound designer Giorgio Di Salvo, the unique soundscapes at L’Atelier Sonore evoke emotions that ebb and flow throughout the experience. The setup, developed alongside architect Francesco Lupia, is anchored by three key elements: a custom sound system, a multifunctional console inspired by cabinetry, and plush seating draped in rich velvet. Together, these elements underscore Valentino’s commitment to craftsmanship, reimagined through an avant-garde, auditory lens.
To inaugurate the space, Valentino and Terraforma will host a ten-hour program celebrating New York’s eclectic music scene, interwoven with international influences. Starting at 2 PM, intimate listening sessions will feature artists like Laraaji, Laurel Halo, and Chuquimamani-Condori, each sharing vinyl sets curated from their personal archives. In between sets, Terraforma’s playlist for Valentino will continue to set the tone, crafting a seamless auditory journey.
From May 16 through the end of August, L’Atelier Sonore will be open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, offering visitors a place to unwind, reflect, and reconnect with sound. Occasionally, friends of the House will host live listening sessions, presenting new personal selections to evoke dialogue and connection. Valentino’s Madison Avenue space becomes a vessel for material, sound and human connection, transforming the act of listening into a rarefied art form.
Entry to the May 15 event is limited, with registration opening on the Valentino website from May 9. After the launch, L’Atelier Sonore will remain a haven for those seeking to lose themselves in sound and discover the poetic allure of crafted acoustics.
