Over the last weeks, music agencies here has bombarded us with big names that would be gracing Singapore in the coming months. From huge single acts to massive festivals, we have seen it all, or at least heard of it first. However, amidst the hustle and bustle of it all, we find a certain Symmetry Entertainment delivering a much-needed breath of fresh air. We are just a few days away from possibly one of those nights that will change your life. It will be sweet summer fun when Brooklyn-based band Beach Fossils come to town on 18th November. Coming from the City of Dreams themselves, these band of New Yorkers’ will be bringing an ‘impulsive road trip with the melodious wandering of a lucid dream’ to Home Club, 730pm this Sunday.
Initially meant to be frontman Dustin Payseur’s solo recording project, having played all the instruments for the band’s self-titled album, we think it’s safe to say that Beach Fossils has gone on one heck of a joyride on their way here. Recently losing bassist John Peña to full-time commitment to his side project Heavenly Beat, that was just one of the many ups and downs this band has experienced the past 3 years, including a total of 12 different drummers and 3 guitarists. What remains of Beach Fossils is a mere 3-piece band but definitely not one you should disregard anytime soon.
Dustin Payseur, Zachary Cole Smith and Tommy Gardner would sure deliver one of those enigmatic performances that has brought them much accolade from rave reviews and a successful tour of the United States. Them crossing borders is another huge step, one that almost did not happen as the band had to cancel their entire Asia and Australia tour owing to scheduling issues but we take our hats off to the lovely people from Symmetry Entertainment for pushing through and making Beach Fossils in Singapore happen.
Look forward to a night of sun drenched riffs, kaleidoscopic rhythms and hazy lyrics from their debut album and sophomore EP and we hear that there is a chance we get to hear fresh meat, from their much-awaited third album due for release next year. Tickets are still up for grabs and it’s never too late to bask yourself in the sweet summer love of Beach Fossils. Cheers!
