A Roman Tribute in Stone for Bvlgari’s 50th Anniversary

To mark half a century of the launch of this design, Blvgari returns to its Roman roots with a striking new edition that fuses natural Italian elegance with horological craftsmanship. Among the four models unveiled for the anniversary, the Verde Alpi edition stands out—not only for its refined execution in 18K yellow gold but for its deeply symbolic green marble dial, sourced from the Italian Alps.

The Verde Alpi dial is more than just a display surface; it’s a tribute to the verdant hills and landscapes that surround Rome, Bvlgari’s birthplace. This deep green stone, flecked with white and grey veins, carries centuries of geological history, now captured within a timepiece. As each piece of marble is naturally unique, no two dials are identical, making each watch a one-of-a-kind creation.

Offered in both 38 mm automatic and 26 mm quartz formats, the Verde Alpi models retain the classic Bvlgari Bvlgari DNA, most notably the engraved bezel inscribed “BVLGARI ROMA”—a throwback to the original 1970s versions that referenced the inscriptions on ancient Roman coins. This historical reference is not merely aesthetic; it reinforces Bvlgari’s identity as a jeweller-watchmaker deeply rooted in its heritage and craftsmanship.

The 38 mm model houses the BVL 191 Solotempo automatic movement, visible through a sapphire display back. With a 42-hour power reserve and central seconds hand, it offers everyday reliability with mechanical finesse. The absence of a date window and an unsigned crown contribute to a clean, minimalist design that respects the purity of Genta’s original 1977 layout.

Completing the look is a color-matched green alligator strap with an 18K yellow gold pin buckle, ensuring visual harmony and luxurious wearability. Despite the use of marble, a notoriously delicate material, the case maintains a 50-meter water resistance, a nod to modern functionality.

Limited to just 150 pieces, the Verde Alpi edition is a poetic celebration of nature, heritage and design. It exemplifies Bvlgari’s ability to blend Italian artistry with watchmaking innovation, making this anniversary release not only collectible but deeply evocative of place and time.
