The Chronomètre Furtif stands apart, in a world, obsessed with visibility. Crafted with a 42 mm case and bracelet in Tungsten Carbide, accented by Tantalum elements, this piece that carries the signature thinness of F.P Journe of 9.5 mm, is as tough as it is exclusive. Tungsten Carbide is almost twice as dense as steel and nearly as hard as sapphire, making this timepiece practically indestructible and highly resistant to wear. Its subdued matte finish contrasts with subtle polished edges, hence, echoing the quiet power of its wearer.
F.P.Journe’s creation for the LineSport collection is an ode to stealth luxury. A watch designed not to be seen, but to be known, as contrasted with it more elaborate models, such as the Elegante or Chronomètre Bleu. Inside, the Calibre 1522 is a mechanical hand-wound movement in 18K rose gold and is developed entirely in-house, by highly qualified craftsmen. Featuring hours, minutes, central seconds, a moon phase display at 6 o’clock, and a power reserve at 12, it balances romantic complication with practical function. The direct-drive central seconds hand is a first for the brand, ensuring ultra-smooth motion and greater chronometric stability.
The dial? A Grand Feu enamel in anthracite grey, mirror-polished on white gold, the kind of finish usually reserved for one-off showpieces. Numerals and minute tracks are laser-engraved and only visible under the right light angle. It is a dial that reveals itself only to those paying attention — a trait the Chronomètre Furtif shares with its owner.
Bringing this high-concept piece to life took the full force of F.P.Journe’s vertically integrated ecosystem, to bring it to live in its permanent collection. From the machining expertise of Les Boîtiers de Genève to the artisan dial work at Les Cadraniers de Genève, every surface, curve and component is the result of master-level craft, also launched classically with Only Watch, that was rumoured to be a reality, in the 2023 edition.
With 56 hours of autonomy, 197 movement components, and a total of 422 assembled parts, the Chronomètre Furtif is a manifesto of modern discretion.
