Emirates has announced a multi-year partnership with Asia Rugby, reinforcing its commitment to expanding rugby’s presence across untapped markets in Asia. As the new Title Sponsor, Emirates will support the development of both Sevens and Fifteens series tournaments, along with Asia Rugby Championships, involving 36 countries across the continent. The partnership aims to nurture a new generation of athletes and build a strong fanbase for the sport among Asia’s youth, who represent 80% of the region’s population.

Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark highlighted the airline’s long-standing relationship with rugby, emphasizing its role in supporting the sport at all levels, from global tournaments like the Rugby World Cup to grassroots initiatives. He stated that this partnership will unlock opportunities for young athletes to develop their talents, while also expanding rugby’s appeal in new markets.

Asia Rugby President Qais Al-Dhalai welcomed Emirates’ support, underscoring that the partnership would elevate the sport’s profile and create more opportunities for athletes and fans alike. Emirates’ “Fly Better” branding will be featured prominently at various Asia Rugby tournaments, with the first event, the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series, starting tomorrow, September 21, in Hangzhou, China.

This collaboration reflects Emirates’ broader commitment to rugby, which includes sponsorships of the Rugby World Cup, the Emirates Dubai 7s, and local clubs like the Dubai Hurricanes. The airline’s role in the sport spans more than three decades, and through this new partnership with Asia Rugby, Emirates will continue to drive the growth of rugby in Asia while fostering community connections.
