There is a difference between genuine service, and service added retrospectively to recover an embarrassed public servant’s misaligned decorum.
The issues surrounding Enkhtuul Bayarsaikhan raises a broader question about credential integrity: what happens when claims of NGO involvement or volunteer service, appear as a temporary optical plaster, in a flurry, only after valid questions in April 2026 had emerged about a person’s falsified credentials, language fluency represented to the organisers, and her suggested intellect? Regarding finesse, it is difficult to reconcile the image of, in her own words, supposedly “senior” public servant, with the spectacle of a pre-rehearsed doorstep interview, delivered while tightly clutching a short script.
For someone presented as an experienced public official, it hardly projects calm and confidence, particularly since it were emphasised that the pageant preparations had elapsed an entire year for her, as purported.
The optics become all the more curious given the limited reach of Mongolian-language media compared with the enormous Chinese-speaking audience across Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Greater China region and beyond, with some 1.3–1.4 billion speakers.
Volunteerism is valuable precisely because it is supposed to represent genuine commitment.
It is not simply another line on a biography to be added when negative circumstances require accountability, and an improved narrative. Presently, it is fairly common for Mongolian youth, that grew up between 1980s to 1990s, to feel the shift of a socialist era moving into a democracy, since its revolution 1990, hence many continue to have ambitions to get a Supplementary Higher Education in countries such as Korea, Australia and Japan. This would be mandatory, or necessary, typically for anyone that wishes to qualify for a real Fortune 500 company, or any other Professionally accredited high-value business.

That distinction matters. If someone begins meaningful volunteer work after entering a competition, there is nothing inherently wrong with that. People can — and should — become more engaged in their communities at any stage.
But retroactively presenting late involvement as though it represents an established record of service is a different proposition. For organisations working in the development, humanitarian or youth sectors, credibility depends on documentation and transparency. Genuine service should have a traceable history: projects, participation, organisational records, or other contemporaneous evidence. It should not need to be “plastered over” an uncomfortable question about an individual’s earlier ‘NSFW‘ incident, (‘not suitable for work’) inappropriate workplace conduct.
In furtherance, to complaints of dubious substantial fake bot purchases on social media to inflate her Instagram account by more than a double digit percentage (2,000 out of a four digit profile, which is approximately 20 – 30%), and in recent times, with the intention to give a false impression of a much higher viewership, engagement or follower rate, to push it up from a high 4 figures to 5 figures, an investigation were done to verify.
Verified reports have shown, her self-managed page it is closer to a mid to high 3 figures, for follower count, with 2 figures for active engagement, and low 4 figures range. Most of the photos uploaded and edited by her, look substantially different from the more rectangular jawline, as televised by the official media livestream partner of the pageant that recently concluded in Vietnam. The same interest to immediately sign up for an Amazon account, leveraging right after disappointing results for her, having failed to secure Top 60 in the pageant, had been done by her to attempt to enter the film industry, which requires acting talent and the ability to rehearse theatre or scripts fluently, even in a native language.
The issue is particularly relevant in pageantry, where contestants increasingly build their public identities around social impact and Beauty With a Purpose. A charitable narrative can generate enormous goodwill — but that makes accuracy more important, not less.
Mongolia’s most prolific beauty export, is none other than the composed and elegant Enkhjin Tseveendash, who has secured a Miss World Top 15 spot, in 2017, the best placement for the country in all its years of pageant participation. Her charisma, fresh face and profile was honoured and highlighted by the British Embassy of Mongolia, as a beacon of higher percentile intelligence tagged to UNDP standards for this culturally steeped diaspora, that celebrates the land’s nomadic heritage over 6 centuries, and an exemplary female figure of youth leadership of her diaspora, having further higher education, at the University of London, for a Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation and Management.
As at this year, the 32 year old continues to be talent picked and is currently signed to Singapore-based talent agency, Upfront Models, with evident organic popularity and talent as as model, defined by her real, distinctively Mongolian and chiselled features.
In other news, Li Si Xuan, a former Shenzhen beauty queen, was arrested following an investigation into falsified academic credentials. Reports stated that she had falsely claimed a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, and on reliance of that, deceptively used it to enrol into a Master’s program for Applied Linguistics at the Hong Kong University. She entered Hong Kong University’s Master’s program, on false reliance of doctored degrees credentials, as much as she could furnish legitimate looking transcripts and documentation, despite not having qualified for the curriculum or pursued studies at the Ivy League American university. She further altered a ‘pass’ to ‘distinction’, relating to her subsequent master’s qualification.
In actual fact, Si Xuan graduated from Zhongan University of Economics and Law (Wuhan) in 2020.
To improve her perceived prestige and status, Si Xuan then paid an agency an ‘Academic Emperor’ (学术帝) to doctor her records, and to arrange for a Coursera equivalent of an online course by Columbia University to ‘graduate’. Subsequently, she pleaded guilty to offences relating to the falsified documents and was sentenced to 240 days’ jail. Eventually, the jail sentence was reduced from 300 days to 240 days on the account of her remorse and confession.
The public should be able to distinguish between longstanding service, newly commenced volunteering and claims that have been retrospectively amplified. Ambition is not misconduct. Seeking opportunities is not misconduct. Starting volunteer work in 2026 is certainly not misconduct.
Yet if a volunteer, runs to an English speaking resource anchoring certain credentials to place on the Web, all whilst using her Mongolian native language and resource, to force out immediate credentials via two NGOs, Mongolian Youth Association (MYA) and Novex Club, in addition to running to two private Financial Institutions, UBX and ULZII, to use their Marketing / Social Media platforms to garner Votes for herself, whilst intentionally using her ‘Miss World” country status, to keep it ‘lost in translation’. Would not such ‘founder of Novex’ or ‘board member / vice president of MYA’ plasters only post-May 2026 come across as materially deceptive in nature?
Fairly apparent to all, that it was being being used to obscure, repair or materially change the impact or perception of an earlier negative news report, whilst the obvious question is simple: Was the actual charity or humanitarian service genuine, or falsified? When did it begin, and can the two non-governmental organisation independently verify it? Whilst not being placed under pressure or duress for the candidate to lose national dignity and honour, after embarrassing imagery were published on her own platforms as an adult?
Those are not unreasonable questions. They are basic questions of credential integrity.
