This Sunday morning, Singapore was buzzing as President Tharman Shanmugaratnam kicked off the President’s Challenge Walkathon 2024 at Turning Point Halfway House at the crack of dawn. With excitement in the air and community spirit on full display, participants embarked on a 12-hour cross-island relay like no other which raised a whopping 9,699,979 SGD. Whether you were a dedicated jogger, a charity enthusiast, or simply there to rub shoulders with your favourite Mediacorp DJs and stars, the vibe was all about making a difference while having a blast.
The walkathon is not just about the steps but also about stops—meaningful ones. Along the way, participants made pitstops at select organisations supported by this year’s President’s Challenge, learning more about the impactful causes these charities champion. Some of the morning’s highlights? Visits to Northpoint, AMK Hub, and Lot One, where participants, along with celebs like Artiste He Ying Ying and DJ Mike Kasem, got an inside look at how these organisations uplift vulnerable groups.
Oh, and did we mention the public can still join in the fun? Hit up Westgate or Funan later this afternoon—register on-site and be part of the relay with stars like Ben Yeo, 987 DJ Gerald Koh, and Artiste Paige Chua!
But the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line! The walkathon concludes at the Mediacorp Campus and segues straight into President’s Challenge Night 2024, airing live tonight from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Expect a full-on celebration featuring stories of impact, star-studded appearances, and, of course, opportunities for you to get involved. The event will stream across all the cool platforms—mewatch, Channel 5, Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube, and even TikTok.
Do Good, Feel Good
