Joheirry Mora Wins the Overall Title at the Beauty Pageant’s 75th Anniversary

The Miss World crown itself went to Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic, with Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés named first runner-up.

The 2026 edition marked the organisation’s 75th anniversary, with the competition tracing its history back to 1951. Malaysia has taken the Miss World, top in Asia title, with Taanusiya Chetty finishing second runner-up at the Miss World 2026 final in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

The 26-year-old Malaysian delivered one of the competition’s strongest campaigns, ultimately placing third overall among 111 national representatives. She also won the overall “Beauty With a Purpose” title recognition for the best candidate, showcasing meaningful humanitarian work, and thereby also securing her place in the final six contestants of the Miss World 2026 pageant.

And this is precisely where the problem lies with some candidates: performative philanthropy. The purpose of humanitarian work should be the people and causes being served. Not merely the photographs, publicity, connections or perceived advantage it may bring to a candidate desperately seeking the crown, via inappropriate, aggressive tactics for social media attention.

There is nothing wrong with ambition. But when the appearance of service becomes more important than the action of service itself, the purpose of the pageant platform is lost. For a competition built around the motto, Beauty With a Purpose, candidates should be judged not merely by how convincingly they can present a cause, but by the sincerity, consistency and substance behind that work, not any vanity shoves taking place only since May 2026, as a ‘member’ of a youth NGO (‘non-governmental organisation’) or Volunteer group, following a April 2026 news report wherein at material time she were primarily the sole founder of the Gerel Project.

This timing were confirmed in an official email on 3 September 2026 at 6:47 PM, by esteemed CEO, Batbayar Natsadorj (Гадаад харилцаа) of the Mongolian Youth Federation (MYF) to address pageant hopeful, Enkhtuul Bayarsaikhan’s inauthentic visibility. The belated May 2026 insertion, were mainly done to cover-up or plaster over a Mongolian contestant’s “adult” needs, open to view for all on someone’s Official Instagram page, that were initially not called out directly, however, it appears that the second-hand embarrassment of a particular 2026 Beauty Contestant’s mismanaged libido is real.

That distinction matters. Humanitarian work should not become a late-stage branding exercise designed to manufacture visibility around a candidate desperately seeking a crown. Nor should charitable causes become convenient props in a pageant campaign.
