Rejoice, all you animated fish-lovers and fans of Ellen DeGeneres! Disney Pixar has officially announced the sequel to Finding Nemo! After a decade of waiting and vigorous campaigning on her show, comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres finally got what she (and a handful of us) wanted.
Returning in a new motion picture, expect to see all the things that captured our hearts in the first movie. Not to mention the lovable sea creatures! Finding Dory will feature some familiar fishes like Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, as well as a school of new ones. And as the self-explanatory title suggests, there will be more of Dory! It’s safe to assume the hilarity will be taken to a whole new level with DeGeneres as the leading lady.
“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is – it’s got a lot more Dory.”
The story continues one year after the escapade in search for Nemo. This time, the forgetful blue tang fish goes on her own adventure in the beaches of California. “One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way,” said director Andrew Stanton.
Finding Nemo has raked in hundreds of millions and won the first Oscar for Pixar. Directed once again by Stanton, Finding Dory is sure to be just as successful if not more so than the original movie. Besides, they had 10 years to prepare.
Finding Dory is set to hit the big screen in November 2015. So I guess all we can do for now is to just keep waiting, just keep waiting (and watch Ellen talk about the new film)!
