Ask your father what the Year of the Goat symbolises, and the answer will revolve around a dialect translation of the word “goat” to “win”. We don’t know any gambling tips, but one thing is for sure: Peony Jade is winning with their goat-themed Chinese New Year menu.

We give our take on the three top highlights to save your tummy for:

Bonsai-Shaped Yu Sheng “Instant Enormous Windfall, Good Health and Longevity”

Peony Jade - ‘Instant Enormous Windfall, Good Health and Longevity” Bonsai-shaped Monies Tree Yu Sheng

Known for their creative touch on even the most traditional player, the Bonsai-Shaped Yu Sheng will ensure you start on the right hoof. Crafted into a tree with the hooking scent of truffle oil, the meat (and fish) of this earthly-toned rendition comes in a separate lobster body to really accentuate the wishes of prosperity and wealth voiced by the friendly lady who handles all the other fun content, like golden pillow crackers. Embodying an auspicious price tag of $198.88, this centrepiece serves up to 15 guests.

Deep-fried Glutinous Rice Dumplings with Minced Pork, Mushroom and Fresh Bamboo Shoots “Prosperity & Smooth Sailing”

Peony Jade - Prosperity Deep-fried Glutinous Rice with Minced Pork, Mushroom and Fresh Bamboo Shoots 三羊开泰,包群贺寿满事成(小羊儿点心)

Take a minute to croon over how adorable that dim sum presents itself to be, all fried and flocked together on one plate. Handmade into tiny hum-soi-kuok goats, the effort that went into each goat is enough for an Instagram #foodporn shot. There is only one way to enjoy this: bite through their crispy skin and get to the chewy mochi-like layer covering their savoury insides – just don’t leave the heads behind. A platter of three goes for $9.88!

Slow-Fire Stewed Lamb with Bamboo Shoots, Fresh Garlic and Beancurd Skin “Abundance Fortune”

Peony Jade - Abundance Fortune Slow-Fire Stewed Lamb with Bamboo Shoots and Chestnuts 三羊开泰, 福禄寿喜迎春 (双东焖洋腩)

Oh, this is the true star of the entire menu – don’t let its humble appearance and distinctive smell throw you off. This hearty pot of silky lamb stew (just a hundred days old!) is a welcome alternative to the classic “pen cai”, and with its intense and melt-in-your-mouth velvety texture, it is a luxuriously savoury reminder that Chinese New Year is about to start. Trust us when we say that it is worth every bit of its $78.88 price tag.

Peony Jade - Huat Ah! PEONY JADE’s “HUAT AH!” PROSPERITY GOATS GIFT SET 一羊(样)发财!

“Goat any last words?”

Of course, complete the meal with Peony Jade’s “Huat Ah!” Prosperity Goats Gift Set because it features another set of intrinsically handcrafted goats, only this time filled with salty egg custard that will simply tug at any visiting relative’s heartstrings.

For a full blown dim sum twist, opt for the “Unlimited” Prosperity “FA-CA” Ala Carte Buffet Lunch & Dinner at Peony Jade Keppel Club and Clarke Quay, from 19 January to 12 February, and 19 February to 5 March 2015, priced at S$70.88 per adult and 50% off child (below 10 years). The buffet spread includes Prosperity dishes like “Fa-Cai” Yu-sheng, Mini Buddha-Jumps-Over-The Wall, Meaty Chilli Crab and many more!

Do note that most of the dishes require reservations and a day’s notice in advance for preparation.
