There have been many moves to the Tanjong Pagar district for the food industry. Lately, Gattopardo formerly located at Fort Canning Part has moved to Tras Street and also underwent significant uplift in their menu. Gattopardo shed their previous identity as an ‘Italian Grill and Pizza Bar’ and replaced it with ‘Ristorante di Mare’, which translates to “Seafood Restaurant”.

The uplift is a result of going back to Chef Lino’s Southern Italian roots where seafood is predominant and Chef Lino will also feature signature dishes with seasonal ingredients sourced from Italy during that particular season. At its gorgeous new abode, Gattapardo will be able to house up to 80 guests and even has a lovely spiral staircase connecting its two storeys.

For starters, we had Tasmanian Petuna Ocean Trout Carpaccio, Leeks and Persimmon ($32) and this passed our initial taste test with flying colours. The trout was sweet and well-paired with the mayonaise that accompanied it.

What came next was something not to be missed. The “Risone” Pasta with Braised Octopus and Bone Marrow ($34) looks like ravioli but tastes like pasta. Made in-house, this luxurious “risone” was peppered with chewy bits of braised octopus and had a touch of bone marrow. It is definitely a must-try since it is dubbed as one of the signatures of Chef Lino’s menu.

The fun doesn’t stop there. We also had the Char-grilled Cote De Boeuf ($188 for 1kg which feeds 2 people). The expertly cut slices of beef was well-roasted, crisp on the outside and succulent on the inside – it also kept us happy and left us with a slight beef hungover. To top it all off, we had a soothing blend of chamomile tea which cleansed our palete in preparation for Modica’s Bitter Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Evoo and Fleur de sal ($14) which was simply divine.
