We are here at Suntec Singapore for the Star Awards 20 red carpet, where our local stars try their best to look glamorous and all in their finest threads.
Stay with us as we update this post with live updates throughout the carpet!
Alternatively, follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all the shenanigans. We also had with us fashion stylist Bryan Goh — be sure to check out all his quips and zingers on the fashion stakes on his Twitter page. We assure you most of those tweets speak the absolute truth.
5.20pm: We’re here at the media pit at Level 3. Just your typical media gathering…
…and then this. #butfirstletmetakeaselfie
5.35pm: The red carpet has just started! Quan Yifeng is among the first up on the carpet in a black-and-white bustier that totally flaunts her figure. Also up is Chen Hanwei, wearing Fendi.
Romeo Tan, Felicia Chin and Elvin Ng are up next! Romeo and Felicia are looking resplendent in Dsquared2.
Although, we’re not really sure of Felicia’s dress and hair choice — a step closer to looking cartoonish almost.
5.50pm: Ok, we promised liveblogging but it has been quite hectic here.
THINGS WE LOVED:
- Rebecca Lim in a stunning Giambattista Valli gown
- Julie Tan wearing Frederick Lee Couture and looking very much like an angel fallen from heaven.
- Sora Ma wearing a green Zenchi dress but with slicked-back bob hair that sticks out like a sore thumb
- Constance Song wearing a goddess-like Max Tan cape dress
- Shane Pow in a daring Dolce & Gabbana suit that literally screams “I R HIPSTERKID92”
6pm: Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu are here. No more salamander choices for Joanne: this time it’s an outfit made out of 4 Hermes scarves, which took 40 minutes to assemble. We heard from media insiders that the couple were going through a rough patch, so this photo ought to clear up any rumours of the beard and beardress splitting up.
Also, erm, Vivian Lai turned up in a purple off-shoulder dress but couldn’t name it. “It starts with V. Google it!” she quipped. (Well, that’s not a very helpful hint…) We later found out that it was by Vaughn Tan. Not that difficult to remember, y’know Viv. Tsk tsk.
Other standouts from the carpet:
- Paige Chua looking pretty in white with Max Mara and Swarovski jewels
- Priscelia Chan showing that cleavage in a Diane Von Furstenburg outfit
- Pan Ling Ling wearing a black Max Tan strapless dress because she “wants to look slim”
- Kym Ng reppin’ local in a Francis Cheong outfit
6.20pm: It’s the first time Fann Wong is wearing flats because she is preggers, but nothing is stopping her from turning up in a stunning Bottega Venetta gown from the Pre-Fall 2014 collection.
Also, she and husband Christopher Lee are talking. A lot.
Another standout is Chen Liping, wearing this flapper dress from local brand Zardoze. We have never seen her look this voluptuous in a while. Can we say sex siren?
We loved Rui En‘s stunning red Romona Keveza gown, with her hair effortlessly curled and draped down. What can we say: this woman stuns no matter what she wears.
Jeanette Aw in a slinky black Dolce & Gabbana dress. ‘Nuff said.
Cynthia Koh appears with a bunch of other leggy ladies, in a silver strapless gown by Sunny Ang. The first thing she asks us? “Do you like it?”. We say yes. She does care about second opinions after all.
6.30pm: It’s the last stretch and guess who literally sweeps everyone out of the competition? ZOE TAY.
The Queen of Caldecott opted for a short bob and a black short-sleeved Gucci dress which shone with silver studs. She worked the red carpet like a pro, posing effortlessly for the media, like the seasoned actress she is.
Also, we’ve never seen her deep in thought… until when she had to think about what to write for the Instagram selfie booth.
That’s it for the live-blog! From the Elvinology fan club, peace out!
