The event may have been way too long, attendees many have been sweating profusely in formal wear under the merciless heat and humidity, but as we all know, nothing will stop fashionistas from turning up to witness fashion history in the making.

Jessica Minh Anh from J Model Management did the impossible: turn Gardens By The Bay’s OCBC Skywalk into a fashion runway that showed haute couture and ready-to-wear designs from seven fashion labels including Lebanese couturier Ziad Nakad and Singapore’s very own Fuschia Lane headed by creative director Vivienne Lin.

The 16-storey high skyway at the Supertree Grove spanned a total length of 128 metres, with a gorgeous view overlooking Singapore’s skyline. It was also quite narrow, thus resulting in attendees sitting at the ground floor watching the spectacle above via a giant screen.

This is J Spring Fashion Show’s first stop in Singapore, after staging the event at a series of picturesque locales all over the world, including the Seine River and the Grand Canyon. This is also the first J Spring show incorporating menswear, with the help of designs by Savile Row atelier Mark Marengo and a male model fashion contest to find one model to join those casted in the show.

At the press conference after the two-hour long show, Jessica reveals that the mega-garden was the reason she wanted to come to Singapore to stage her Spring show. Apt indeed, considering the greenery that was synonymous with the fashion season on display. She also revealed to Popspoken that her pagoda-styled gravity-defying hairdo took 45 minutes to assemble, with the help of hairstylists from Singapore’s Action Salon.

Vivienne was happy to be included in the show, coming from humble roots: her label was from the pioneer batch of fashion incubation project PARCO Next Next. She shared with Popspoken that she only had two weeks to piece the 12-look Spring collection in time for its debut on the show. She is hopeful that with more projects, Singapore’s fashion scene will continue to be represented in international events such as this.

The entire production was prepared within less than 60 days from the minute Jessica Minh Anh gained exclusive permission from Gardens by the Bay to host the grand show on the special bridge. J Spring Fashion Show in the morning was extended till the evening with the J Spring After Party in the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel where the most unique pieces from the show were exhibited.
