Oscar de la Renta has returned following his inaugural success with the Outnet to stun with a second capsule collection which goes on sale on the Outnet on the 17th of December. Young russian beauty, editor and street style star Miroslava Duma (founder of Russian fashion news site Buro 24/7) is the face of Oscar x Outnet Spring 2014 and, yes, it is all kinds of stunning and fabulous.
Oscar x Outnet is a polished practice in melding 7th Ave and street, a marriage that derives from “the style of American first ladies”; it is a harmonious copulation of gilded luxe and practical chic birthing investment pieces that are timeless and each a statement on their own. Expect the quintessential Oscar touch breathe magic into simple silhouettes and staples — bold Ikat prints on fluttery chiffon (a gentle nod to Oscar’s Fall 2013 runway), exquisite opaline hues accentuating the feminine portrait on luxe silk-cotton blends and sophisticated, embellished outerwear in an accessible homage to Oscar de la Renta’s distinguished sartorial palate/palette.
The 20 piece collection retails from £325 for a blouse to £1095 for a floor length skirt – pretty steep but still at a fraction of the price of an Oscar de la Renta creation – not a bad deal considering they originate from the same archive of Oscar originals.
We think it’s classy, striking, feminine and pretty with a hefty price tag (really, does the ordinary day-to-day girl need a £1095 skirt in their wardrobe?), but, hey, it’s Christmas (squee!) and we reckon statement pieces are worth investing in, like the Floral print silk-blend skirt or the cotton-blend tweed jacket. Y’all better get in fast, judging by the commercial success of the first collection (the Outnet sold out of half the collection the first day it went on sale) and how pretty this second one is, you would want to sink your maniclaws into this as fast as you can plug in your credit card details.
