With his chiselled cheek bones, lanky frame, angular shoulders and legs that go on forever, Andrej Pejic could easily be mistaken for a girl. Andrej shot to fame after making his first appearance at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2011 show, where his gender became a topic of obsession.
The 21-year old Serbian-Australian model has since taken the world by storm. As of September 2012, Pejić is currently No. 18 on Model.com‘s Top Male Models list, and was even ranked No. 98 of FHM’s Sexiest Women of 2011. This highly controversial move by FHM engendered a spate of transgender issues. Following that, FMH redacted the text that came with Pejic’s entry and issued a public apology.
From 20 – 22 October 2012, Pejić will be the face of Singapore’s very first Digital Fashion Week – a refreshing concept that pairs fashion with digital innovation. Digital Fashion Week will enter new territory in the fashion arena, as it would be the world’s first live-streaming fashion week with no front row guests.
International names such as Guo Pei and Patricia Field of Sex and the City Fame will be gracing the event too. Guo Pei’s couture designs have won the hearts of Zhang Ziyi and Lady Gaga; and her label has been famously dubbed as the “Chanel of China”. Local designers such as Eugene Lin, J-A-S-O-N, Pauline.Ning, OwnMuse, Tze Goh and Thomas Wee will present their stunning ensembles via an e-commerce platform where guests from around the world can purchase items with the click of a button.
We will be meeting Andrej on 17th October for the Digital Fashion Week media conference! Follow us on twitter (@popspoken) and let us know your burning questions. We will ask Andrej on your behalf.
