Entangled in complex layering of instrumental textures and native Bahasa Indonesia lyrical wordplay, the simplicity in the musical output of The Trees And The Wild lies in the band’s ability to connect with and inspire listeners, especially so in their focused and charged live deliveries.
Aside from credible mentions from renowned music and news publications such as Pitchfork labeling of “the best band in the world” and The New York Times describing them as “one of the most original rock bands to have come along in the last decade”, the San Francisco band, Deerhoof – collectively made up of Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich, Ed Rodriguez and Greg Saunier – is well known for their contagiously catchy indie anthems, delivered across in highly energetic and unpredictable punches.
If you have missed out both acts from their respective appearances at the UpToTheSky Festival in 2011 as well as the Baybeats festival, shame on you and here’s your perfect chance at catching up on your missed opportunity that is not to be missed. For those out there that had diligently followed both bands throughout their live shows and appearances here in Singapore, it’s time to revisit and re-enact the feel good times once again!
It’s Thursday night, and a night away from Friday and the arrival of the weekend. What’s a better way to celebrate the feeling of utopia than with good company and music from two great indie acts?
Well, shameless to say, but because we at Popspoken say so and will be there too to spend the night!
