The judging panel is out for MediaCorp Channel 5’s latest reality singing competition, The Final 1. Were Dick Lee, Florence Lian, Jacinta Abisheganaden going to come back to reprise the judging panel a la Singapore Idol? Were The Flying Dutchman, Irene Ang and Beatrice Chia-Richmond from One Moment of Glory making a return?

Names were finally released on Monday and, voila: singer-songwriter (or the ‘Home’ girl) Kit Chan will lead the panel together with Hype Records director Ken Lim and award-winning singer-songwriter Taufik Batisah, who is also an artiste under Hype.

The Final 1 attracted 1,000 audition entries submitted online and only 60 will make it to the first episode, which is set to launch Wednesday, 24 April at the primetime 8pm slot. The contest promises a holistic approach into grooming the artiste, with marketing, social media and styling courses peppered throughout the course of the competition.

According to the press release by MediaCorp Channel 5, the show aims to find someone who has the ability to be “current and popular in today’s music industry”. The winner stands to win a $50,000 recording contract as well as $50,000 in cash.
