WRITE FOR US!
Email us to join the Popspoken team: hello (at) popspoken (dot) com. We are not just looking for event recappers or press release regurgitators: Popspoken prides itself on viral-speak, great interview scoops and turning product posts into meatier originals and features. Send a brief introduction of yourself and at least two writing samples (the more relevant to entertainment and lifestyle, the better) and we will get in touch with you. (Hint: Wit is always welcome.)
Do indicate the verticals you would like to join: (do also let us know if you want to dabble in various verticals)
Entertainment: Movies, music, television and showbiz – you are at the centre of the goings-on in the world of entertainment. Keeping tabs on local and international entertainment scenes is a cinch and a Rolodex of artistes and their Twitter accounts is stored in the back of your mind.
Arts: Theatre, visual arts and dance – when it comes to the arts, you are a connoisseur. (Rabid Kumar fandom sold separately.) You love the proscenium, the black box, the gallery, the dance hall and you definitely love Janice Koh as Nominated Member of Parliament.
Fashion: Apparel, accessories, retail, people and parties – it’s the world of fashuuuuun that reels you in with all its sequins and clashing prints. You swear by Nowfashion live feeds, Style.com fashion reviews and The Cut blogs. More importantly, you have your eyes set on the rising Singapore fashion scene.
Wine & Dine: Debunking the hoity-toity world of fine dining and anticipating the arrival of Twister Fries – you have a knack for exploring different types of food and drink and ensuring that stupid friend of yours understands it. Plus points if you know a hole-in-the-wall watering hole.
Global Radar: Travelling overseas? If you have a penchant for capturing the world around you and taking stock of the Singaporean view of that world, come on board and be our Global Trends Analyst. Plus point: you will represent the entire city on Popspoken and be a Singapore correspondent to the city’s key events. How’s that for street cred?
Issues: A cross of millennial issues (“25 Reasons Why Hipsterism Sucks”) and current affairs (“25 Reasons To Repeal Section 377A”) is what makes our new beat tick. No, we are not Thought Catalog. No, we are not The Daily Beast. We are an evolving generation that proves, once and for all, the youth are not an apathetic generation. We just have too many #firstworldproblems.
At Popspoken, we are looking for bold, fearless voices with constant opinions and a hunger to have it crafted into word. If you can do that and not take yourself way too seriously, welcome on board. (Note: This is a volunteer position. We do not give out school credit or internships.)
Positions are also available for:
Vertical Editor, Issues
Creative, Photography
Creative, Design
Developer, Website & Mobile
Accounts Executive
If you wish to apply for these positions, please place “Attention: Management” in your subject header.
