Rejoice: Uber’s Ice Cream Service Returns Once Again To Singapore

Feeling parched on a Friday? On-demand private car app Uber‘s annual ice-cream service will be just around the corner.

The company has announced on its blog today that it will be launching its on-demand service for one day only, for Uber users to get themselves some well-needed ice-cream to combat the tropical island’s sweltering heat.

The Ice Cream option on the Uber app will go live on Friday (Jul 24), from 11am to 5pm. A minimum order of four ice creams for $15 must be placed before the company whisks away Redmart-provided ice cream flavours to your destination of choice. All payments will be done via the app, so no cash payment is needed.

Ice-cream flavours will be a surprise for customers. Besides transporting via car and runners, the app has added a drone transportation option. Runners will be deployed in the Central Business District. Electric cars and UberX cars will be part of the car transportation medium.

The service is being rolled out in 254 cities across 58 countries spanning six continents. It is a remarked jump from the 33 cities that participated in 2013, according to Engadget. Singapore was the first Asian city to have the ice-cream service; this is the second time the city-state is part of #UberIceCream.
