Hold your horses, club kids: Ritz Lim and Bobby Luo are back in business.
The duo could be opening a new nightclub soon, according to a statement from Luo in an email blast sent out to subscribers of former club The Butter Factory’s email list. He said this among other updates for personal projects, including his foray into the fashion and retail market with the opening of boutique SUPERSPACE at orchardgateway.
“I am also in the midst of trying to open a new solo nightclub with Ritz. So, we hope you will continue to stay in touch for updates…”
Luo said this amid promoting a new event happening on Oct 11 (Sunday) called Mabuk Market, where shuttle buses from HarbourFront Centre will transport revellers to Keppel Bay Island for Mabuk Market, a flea market coupled with $8 cocktails prepared by actor Pierre Png (yes, THAT Pierre Png), an art carnival from art magazine kult, and a selection of DJs spinning throughout the day, including Luo himself.
The Butter Factory closed for good after its nine-year lease ran out at One Fullerton in March this year. In a statement, the club reiterated that “all talks about a possible new venue refer to a brand new concept that our team is conceptualising. This new club will not be The Butter Factory.”
Well club kids, in a sea of nightclubs with bottle service and other ostentatious methods of downing your alcohol, whatever concept Luo and Lim is going to have is sure to fire up the dancefloors once again and bring clubbing back to the dance and the music, given that both of then have not retired their penchant for the loud, brash and riotous.
