Singapore’s night scene is pushing the envelope with each passing year; and so are the festivities which gravitate around the Singapore F1 Night Race. What started off as a novel concept, as the first-ever night race in the world, was also lucrative in every sense of the word. The race drew 300,000 onsite spectators as well as international big wigs. More importantly, it placed Singapore on the world map – so less people overseas will wonder whether Singapore is in China (haha).
2015 is a special year for Singapore. With elections looming, and a nation that is reborn; 50 years on, after the demise of her founding father. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the week after polling day, than to live it up!
Starting from Podium Lounge on 18 September 2015, held at the swanky Ritz Carlton, which will see the inimitable Hodor (aka Kristian Nairn) from the Game of Thrones wearing the hat as a DJ. He will be belting out a unique blend of progressive house, interlaced with shouts to“Aranat oqo” (”to drop the beat” in Dothraki). The more eclectic alternative on the same day will be at Kilo Lounge, a spot that we have tied in our minds synchronously to the term ‘underground’, and have since kept an eye on as they continue to push the envelope with tight musicianship.
For F1, Kilo Lounge has managed to string in Alexis and Owen from the quirky synthpop legends, Hot Chip, who are known for their eccentricity, stunning visuals and always guarantee a good time. Supporting them in the F*ck Yo Couch Series (feat. Hot Chip) are Brendon P and Ming, who are illustrious in their own regard.
Cure your hangover with the Sky High Brunch party* at CÉ LA VI the next day. With… More alcohol! Perched on top of Marina Bay Sands, CÉ LA VI will be transformed into a decadent couture-styled brunch party on 19 September 2015, with a free flow of Perrier-Jouët champagne, and to-die-for cocktails specially crafted by Knut Randhem, their head mixologist, who was once a judge of Diageo World Class Thailand.
Let’s not forget the glorious brunch spread. Oysters, foie gras, caviar – your stomach is going to be so well-oiled and have the lining it needs to tackle the debauchery that will follow on when night falls.
Satiated, you will be better be able to enjoy the progressive ins and outs of DJ Jose Padilla, ex-resident at Ibiza’s Cafe Del Mar, who mixes an unsurpassable blend of sunset, ambient music, and was a pioneer who popularized the Balearic beat. Supporting DJ Padilla is none other than Brendon P (whose name has appeared twice in this article) – I guess when you’re the godfather of House music in Singapore, your name would be a staple at all the prime parties.
With tickets priced from $900 a pop, Amber Lounge is quite possibly the party with the highest concentration of well-heeled guests. With 7 race car drivers (Esteban Gutierrez (Ferrari), Adrian Sutil (Williams), Carmen Jorda, Jolyon Palmer (Lotus), Raffaele Marciello (Sauber), Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren), Fabio Leimer (Manor)) glamming up the star-studded fashion runway, and Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas gracing its stage; this is the party that will surely impress your date. You might even spot Adam Levine lurking in the shadows, because it is the after-party with the highest probability of F1 stars attending, so they can unwind after a long day. I mean, who doesn’t love the free-flow of premium spirits, right?
So here is what we propose: Accumulate your sleep in the next week.
There’s just too many things going on next week (not listed here: Ultra Music Festival, Circuit Lounge and performances by the one and only Bon Jovi), that you better be functioning at an energy level of 110%.
