Yet, if there was one party we wouldn’t want to miss, it would have to be Amber Lounge.
The celebrated F1 after-party has toured Monaco and Abu Dhabi and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Undisputedly, it is the party at the tip of everyone’s tongue, where everyone covets a spot at.
Last year, six F1 drivers took part in a Brioni and Stefano Ricci fashion show, alongside special performances by R&B crooner Lemar. Oh, did we mention, Sir Richard Branson was in attendance too alongside other hotshot celebs. Imagine all of these vivacious people placed under a cosy tent, doused with unlimited spirits. It can only amount to an electrifying party, set to impress all in attendance.
I wanted to create a stylish, unique VIP nightlife experience where F1 teams, drivers, sponsors and celebrities could relax and enjoy themselves away from the eyes of press and media. – Sonia Irvine, Founder of Amber Lounge
- Amber Lounge spanned 2 decadent days. Unfortunately, we missed the first day of Amber Lounge, where it was evident from the photos that Frederick Lee’s haute couture pieces were dripping with theatrical exuberance. From symmetrical dresses with black ruffles placed to look like taxidermied wings, to chiffons draped and cinched and not forgetting the elaborate hairdos, the collection screamed opulence. Frederick showcased pieces from this black-swan inspired collection on the final day of Fide Fashion Weeks 2013, where we were enraptured and surging with Singapore pride all at the same time.
- We were in for a surprise when a shaggy, long-haired man came on stage. As an electronic music lover, it was other-worldly to have John Martin of Swedish House Mafia fame in such close proximity, belting out hits like “Don’t You Worry Child” and “Save the World”. The aural spectacle didn’t just end there, with Taboo from Black Eyed Peas then taking over the decks, beat-boxing and stringing rhymes with tunes. Dope.
- Amongst other race car drivers, we sighted Nico Rosberg, chilling in the background and sipping champagne with his posse. If you want to have a good time, you know where to go. After all, it’s not every day you get to high five John Martin, who hung around after his set was done.
