Symmetry Entertainment (Singapore) and Wanderland Festival (Philippines) are excited to introduce WOAH Fest, a new festival that will hit the Singaporean shores in 2016.

As the name suggests, WOAH Fest aims to be an experience that will take the words right out of your mouth. Showcasing an electrifying line-up of international, regional and local acts, WOAH Fest optimistically aims to cement its spot alongside Southeast Asia’s top music festival names in the years to come.

WOAH Fest says they are just as ecstatic to call Singapore, a diverse and stimulating cosmopolitan, home.

Symmetry Entertainment is a concert promotion company in Singapore, having hosted a plethora of acts from cult-legends Slowdive and Mew to bands that get young hearts racing like Bombay Bicycle Club and Foals. Symmetry Entertainment also presented Camp Symmetry at Gardens by the Bay in 2013.

Wanderland Music and Arts Festival is an annual outdoor music and arts festival in the Philippines. Wanderland Fest brought international indie acts to Manila, such as Phoenix, Foster the People, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Bastille. The company already claimed Wanderland’s coming years of success in the Philippines and now they are continuing Wanderland’s festival celebration to Singapore.

Wanderland’s Festival Director, John Uy, on their collaboration with Symmetry for WOAH Fest:

It is definitely a privilege to be able to broaden our festival’s reach while working with a company that shares the same ideals. Singapore has such a vibrant festival community and it would be crazy of us to pass up an opportunity to take part in that.

How will WOAH Fest differ from other indie music festivals who have already made their mark here in Singapore, like Laneway Festival which explodes your social media feed or Camp Symmetry that brings in your favourite bands?

For starters, WOAH Fest is not a one-off event unlike Laneway. It spans over months, probably even the whole year, with acts taking place at different times and venues but under the umbrella of the same festival name.

One WOAH Fest concert also costs almost the same price as an early-bird festival pass to Laneway.

But at the end of the day, we’re still excited that WOAH Fest is bringing in indie bands to the likes of Laneway festival-goers and the general indie listeners in Singapore.

This year, WOAH Fest features two popular indie bands as the festival sideshows:

Indie-rock legend DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE will be playing live at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore on March 7, 2016, 8PM! Be part of the music history as Ben, Nick and Jason play their 8th album, Kintsugi, for the Singapore crowd for the very first time.

Death Cab for Cutie is composed of Ben Gibbard, (vocals, guitar, piano), Nick Harmer (bass) and Jason McGerr (drums). Death Cab for Cutie knew immediately that ‘Kintsugi’ would fit perfectly as the title of their eighth studio album. A philosophy derived from the Japanese art of repairing cracked ceramics with gold to highlight flaws instead of hiding them, ‘Kintsugi’ speaks to the way an object’s history is part of its aesthetic value.
