This San Francisco-based producer has made waves for his R&B minimalism, swamped with the still, ambient sound of trap beats that has been made popular by this generation’s wave of producers. Fans of The xx, Slow Magic, and XXYYXX would enjoy his range of music.

Nosaj Thing

Many would be familiar with the YouTube-Chillwave era of music, where names such as Gold Panda, XXYYXX, and Clams Casino have become house staples. Nosaj Thing is no different, with the LA-based producer collaborating recently with hip-hop stalwarts such as Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and Chance The Rapper. Expect a night filled with subliminal beats, and who knows, a remix from one of your favorite rappers?

When & Where: August 11, SCAPE Ground Theatre

Michael Angelakos and Co. make a return trip to Singapore shores this time, fresh off to promote their new release, Kindred. Fans can expect the band to play old classics such as “Sleepyhead”, “Take a Walk” and “Carried Away”. The indie electronic quartet, well-known for their frenetic and energetic performances, will be performing at SCAPE after their stellar set at Esplanade in 2012.

As part of their world tour, the acoustic giants will make a stop at Singapore to play songs off their latest record, Coming Up For Air. The Dublin natives, well-known for single “All I Want”, have been featured in TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Fault In Our Stars and Modern Family. Catch the quartet when they come to Singapore!

House of Riot! (Charlie Lim, Inch Chua, The Great Spy Experiment)

Organised by local label Riot! Records, this event boasts an ensemble of three highly reputed local acts: Charlie Lim, Inch Chua and The Great Spy Experiment. This concert will also mark the swansong of veterans The Great Spy Experiment, who have been performing intermittently since their debut in 2005. Do support local and give them a much-needed boost!

A festival staple, this international music platform for up-and-coming acts is onto it’s 10th anniversary. Packed with the likes of Angus Dawson (AU), Buckman Coe (CA), Gush (FR), and B.P. Valenzuela (PH), who we caught earlier at Manila’s Wanderland Arts and Music Festival, we can be sure that this is going to be a blast. Be sure to come early and settle for drinks!
