On Sunday night (Monday morning, Singapore time), the Golden Globe Awards organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association celebrated the best in movies and television last year. Among the hits and misses were spontaneous moments that proved truly memorable.

Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the opening monologue alone kicked the show into high gear as the comedians made digs at the Bill Cosby incidents and found humour in references to the Sony cyber attack.

George Clooney also took home the Cecil B. DeMille award for Lifetime Achievement. He took time in his acceptance speech to address the Charlie Hebdo attacks, the passing of Robin Williams, his wife and the reality of being a part of an awards show.

Perhaps most memorable was Kevin Spacey and his acceptance speech for his role in television drama House of Cards. His first win after a whopping 8 nominations, the 55-year-old actor gave a speech nothing short of emotional that included an F-bomb and promised it “is just the beginning of my revenge”, taking cue from his Netflix character Frank Underwood.
