Annie, the red-headed orphan who has been putting a smile on everyone’s face since 1977 is storming the stage of Marina Bay Sands theatre from now till the 5th of August.

The unrelenting search for her parents leads her to billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. He offers a reward to help locate her parents, and what ensues is hilarious, meaningful exchanges that tug at the heartstrings of many.

With 27 local child talents playing the roles of the orphans, the well-loved musical takes a flavourful local spin. For instance, Ms Hannigan blurting out “Yam Seng” when  doing a cheers with her bottle of liquor. Stealing the hearts of the audience is 6 year-old Chloe Choo who plays Molly. “I like Molly because we are both cute and smart,” quips a cheerful Chloe. Filled with boundless energy, she bops up and down the stage like she’s on fire. The rest of the cast concurred that off-stage, her energy continues to be infectious and does not wane away even when everyone is tired from a day’s rehearsal.

Balancing school work and rehearsals is no walk in the park, but  the experience is definitely worth it. “Sharing the stage with Lion King and Wicked, is extremely overwhelming,” concurs most of the child stars.
