The same couch, the same flickering TV and the same snickering – Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-head are back! Wearing the same AC/DC and Metallica tee-shirts, the boys may not have aged a bit but the world today is no longer like before. They now have more than just music videos to make fun of – reality shows, the Internet and the 2012 Apocalypse will all be crossing their TV screen.

For those uninitiated, the animated series was created by Mike Judge and ran on MTV from 1993 to 1997. The series became the network’s highest-rated program for that period. The stars of the show are two socially awkward teenagers, Beavis and Butt-head, who are obsessed with nachos, heavy metal music and trying to “score with chicks”. They are best known for slumping on their ratty couch and passing hilarious comments about music videos. As dim-witted and comedic as before (but with a modern touch), they have evolved from attacking music videos to critiquing the hottest topics in the society and pop culture today.

In the first episode, both boys are grabbed by the ‘Twilight’ phenomenon and firmly believe that turning into a vampire or werewolf will help them “score chicks”. They later mistook a homeless man for a werewolf and convinced him to bite them. They soon find themselves in a totally unexpected situation.

The second episode sees them getting inspiration from old movies where “scoring with a chick” appears to be as simple as asking her father for her hand. They simply have no idea of the trouble they are getting into. When Beavis and Butt-head are accidentally hired as ‘Tech Support’ geeks, they offered more than technical support to the callers. Will their cubicle mate Hamid be able to help, or will he fall victim to their perverted pranks?

In the third episode, Beavis and Butt-head join their class on a field trip to a military base. They find themselves in the virtual pilot seats of drone planes on a Middle Eastern mission, charged with the need for speed. When these two are in the hot seat, it’s only a matter of time before the general wants their heads!

The audience had loved their brand of humour and their perspectives on pop culture so Mike Judge kept that winning element and injected freshness by getting them to talk about topics of the super-now. Get ready to be entertained, provoked and wondering why the heck are two ugly dudes so much smarter and witter than you when Beavis and Butt-head return to the TV screen.
