Review: Hangover Part 2
When I first heard that the sequel of The Hangover was in production, I was honestly worried.
The Hangover was such a success because it truly shocked you. With the premise of 4 guys having the night of their lives and waking up the next morning with not a single clue of what happened and 1 man missing, gave the writers of the Hangover absolute freedom to make almost anything happen. Anything was possible.
Hence, the writers threw in a douche bag with access to drugs,
a tiger,
a naked Chinese man
and Mike Tyson.
As for the review, I will not try not to reveal anything because that would ruin your movie experience.
The Hangover depends on shock and awe to be funny and without funny, its becomes an educational video by the MOE to encourage you from binge drinking.
The Hangover Part 2 happens in Bangkok and the same exact thing happens again. A crazy night of partying and someone is missing in the morning.
Hence, you follow their journey as they try to find their friend, slowly recalling the insane things they did in span of a couple of hours.
I found it funny as hell. They actually managed to shock me. It was basically slapstick crude dirty disgusting dark humor. Something that I believe everyone loves but hates to admit. The theatre filled with laughter, ohhhhhs and ahhhhhs as we discovered the things a human being can do under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
However, I felt that although the things that happened was uniquely fresh and disturbing, the main skeleton of the story remained the same.
1. Let’s try to remain sober
2. Wake up in random place
3. Friend missing
4. Slowly remember the night
5. Find missing friend
6. Promise to not do it again
7. Sequel comes out
In conclusion, I give a 8/10. Although, the main flow was the same as the first movie. I laughed my ass off and that is what really counts in a comedy.
Now, we wait for The Hangover Part 3. I have a feeling it will be R21.
