All Time Low Parodies Lady Gaga and Katy Perry in Latest MV!
Nothing Personal, eh? It seems with the upcoming release of All Time Low’s fourth studio album “Dirty Work”(their first through a major label, Interscope Records), the current poster boys of pop punk have taken it upon themselves to parody the biggest stars of mainstream music today.
Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and even Britney Spears are not spared in the music video for their first single, “I Feel Like Dancin”. Whether it was “Bad Romance” or “Hold It Against Me”, the boys from ATL had it all covered. Shot in Zombieland-style cinematography, it is a hilarious concept as the band tries in vain to pitch ideas to their manager in the MV.
But the corporate jabroni was having none of that (a dig at their new label perhaps?). Instead, the only way to have a successful video according to their evil manager, have product placement, sell sex, and steal ideas! Subtle indeed.
The band members do a great job caricaturing the stars. Seriously, lead singer Alex Gaskarth dressed/undressed, as Katy Perry in her “California Gurls” MV is, umm, a sight to behold.
The song in itself has a fun/chilled out vibe to it that makes for a catchy, foot-stomping party track ala Weezer’s Beverly Hills.
And what do you know, the song was actually co-written by Weezer’s lead singer, River Cuomo. It is definitely a radio-friendly track and may represent All Time Low’s best chance to break through the glass ceiling of having Top 40 hit. If nothing else, they have at least won me over with their sense of humor.
“Dirty Work” hits stores on June 7th. Be sure to check it out! Let us know what you think of ATL’s brand new music video. Love it or hate it, have your say in it. Till then…
